‘They will struggle without Sirino’: Chiefs legend on SuperSport clash

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs legend Patrick Mayo has his expressed his concerns regarding the absence of their injured newcomer, Gaston Sirino, during their upcoming match against SuperSport United.

Amakhosi will take on the Swanky Boys in the Carling knockout Cup Round of 16 on Saturday evening at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium as they aim to secure a place in the quarterfinals.

Sirino is one of the handful players of the Glamour Boys who could miss the match as they’re still nursing injuries.

The Uruguayan attacking midfielder sustained an injury in a match against his former side Mamelodi Sundowns in the Betway Premiership.

Mayo emphasised that Chiefs will find it difficult to perform without Sirino, as he is one of the key playmakers upon whom the team depends.

MAYO – I DON’T THINK SIRINO WILL PLAY

“The way Nasredine Nabi has started gives us hope, and the players are responding very well to his tactics,” told KickOff.

“I give advantage to Kaizer Chiefs, although it won't be easy because SuperSport United's performance has been improving game by game. There's a lot of new players there who are planning to impress their coach. I see penalty shoot-outs deciding this match.

“Well, if the game is decided during the regular time or in extra-time, Vincent Pule is going to do it for SuperSport. He's gonna enjoy his football under Gavin Hunt.

“On the Kaizer Chiefs side, I don't think Gaston Sirino will play much because of his injury. If Sirino is not playing, then I see Mduduzi Tshabalala, Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi being match winners. And don't forget, they still have Njabulo Blom.

“But without Sirino, they might struggle because he is the playmaker Sirino. He is more offensive.”
