The PSL has been home to numerous exceptional strikers who have demonstrated remarkable consistency throughout their careers, etching their names into the annals of history.
With the new season of 2024/25 commencing, Afrik-Foot looks at top 10 of all-time leading scorers
1 – Siyabonga Nomvethe (123 goals)
Affectionately known as ‘Bhele’ within football circles, he is widely regarded as the greatest striker in PSL history, having maintained the record for the most goals for quite some time.
Locally, the Bafana Bafana legend played for Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Moroka Swallows, AmaZulu FC and Uthongathi FC.
He’s now an actor and a coach.
2 – Peter Shalulile (116 goals)
The Namibian forward continues to excel at Mamelodi Sundowns and is merely seven goals shy of matching Nomvethe’s tally of 123 goals.
At 30 years of age, Shalulile has proven to be a formidable presence in front of goal since his arrival in South Africa, having also played for Highlands Park.
3 – Bradley Grobler (113 goals)
The 36-year-old remains a pivotal player for Gavin Hunt’s team, despite facing challenges with injuries that have hindered his pursuit of the top position on the scoring list.
The former Platinum Stars player is currently just three goals behind Shalulile.

4 – Daniel Mudau (110 goals)
Mudau once held the title of all-time top scorer for Sundowns, although he has since been surpassed by Shalulile.
Now retired, Mudau serves as a supporter coordinator for the club.
5 – Mabhuti Khenyeza (110 goals)
Despite moving a lot, Khenyeza remained consistent wherever he went. He played for eight clubs in the PSL including Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.
He still holds the record for the fastest goal in the Soweto derby, having scored in just 19 seconds against Orlando Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
6 – Manuel Bucuane (104 goals)
Manuel Bucuane, widely recognised as Tico-Tico, was a prolific scorer, amassing 104 goals during his career. He had three separate tenures with Jomo Cosmos and also played for SuperSport United while in South Africa.
Beyond the borders of South Africa, Bucuane had stints with FC Estrella in Portugal, Tampa Bay in the United States, and Maputo in Mozambique.
7 – Collins Mbesuma (103 goals)
Mbesuma will always go down as one of the greatest strikers in the history of Kaizer Chiefs.
He also holds the record of most goals scored in one season in the league. This was when he netted 25 goals in the 2004/25 when Chiefs won the league.
8 – Khama Billiat (97 goals)
Billiat enjoyed major part of his career in the PSL at Sundowns where he also won individual awards like PSL footballer of the season and second-best African-based player of the year.
His career also includes tenures at Ajax Cape Town and Kaizer Chiefs, and he currently plays for Yadah Stars in Zimbabwe, having scored 97 goals.

9 – Lehlohonolo Majoro (91 goals)
Majoro scored most of his PSL goals at Chiefs where he perhaps played his best football. He also played for AmaZulu FC, Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits and Cape Town City.
He remains clubless after leaving Usuthu at the end of the 2022/23 season.
10 – Wilfred Mugeyi (91 goals)
Wilfred Mugeyi, a forward hailing from Harare, is regarded as one of the top Zimbabwean strikers to have played in South Africa, known for his goal-scoring prowess.
