TS Galaxy star signs for ex-Erling Haaland club for record fee

TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has confirmed to SABC Sport that the club’s defender Samukelo Kabini has signed for the former Manchester City star Erling Haaland club for record fee.

The 21-year-old centre-back, Kabini has been a key player for TS Galaxy for the past season and a half.

His impressive stint at Mpumalanga-based outfit saw him make 39 appearances across all competitions, contributing three goals and three assists.

Kabini has now signed a deal with Norwegian Eliteserien club Molde FK, the former club of Erling Haaland.

According to Sukazi, this is the biggest transfer deal in the club's history, with a rumored fee of around R15 million.

‘WE HAVE NEVER DONE TRANSFER OF THIS NATURE’

“Yes, Samukelo Kabini has signed for Norwegian topflight club Molde FK, who have won consecutive league titles and are known to be playing in the UEFA Champions League,” Sukazi told SABC Sport.

“Indeed, it's a transfer fee in euros for starters and we have never done a transfer of this nature of course. So it becomes a record transfer.

“But l'd hate to say that because there should be no limit. The quality should dictate the price and Kabini's quality is proof of this. We have transformed boys into men and this is good for the country.”

Sukazi stated he’s delighted that his players are transferred straight to Europe without going through trials first.

“It is clear what type of club he will be joining and we are happy with that. I am sure it also indicated to many that as TS Galaxy we have become the university of football by producing untested talent at the highest level and also tactically sound,” he added.

“We are now taking on bigger leagues by taking the players straight to Europe – you will hardly hear that a player from TS Galaxy is going for trials or hear a rumour that a big club wants our player, but meanwhile you have seen no comment from the club.”
