Usuthu have taken a chance on the experienced Ghanaian stopper
AmaZulu have reportedly reached an agreement to sign former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard Ofori in what will not be good news for Veli Mothwa.
Ofori is a free agent after leaving Pirates which makes him available to any club even after the closure of the transfer window and according to multiple reports, AmaZulu look to have decided to bring him on board amid the struggles of Mothwa.
Mothwa did not cover himself in glory in his team’s opening match of the new PSL season when a blunder in injury time allowed Polokwane City to snatch all three points.

That was the second high profile error for the goalkeeper in one week after another mistake while playing for Bafana Bafana during their 2-2 draw with Uganda in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Pressure has been building on Veli Mothwa
Since then, pressure has been mounting on coach Pablo Franco Martin to drop him although the tactician vehemently defended the goalkeeper from the criticism he received, but the signing of Ofori will be a warning to the experienced Mothwa.
Ofori has been looking for a club since ending his four-year stay at Pirates at the end of last season having become surplus to requirements.
With the Ghanaian goalkeeper coming in, AmaZulu will now have three goalkeepers with Olwethu Mzimela the other option available to Martin.
