Kaizer Chiefs defender Miguel Inacio insists the club has made progress under coach Nasreddine Nabi despite what has been seen as another disappointing season.
Chiefs sit in eighth place in the PSL after eight wins, five losses and a draw in the league, with the Nedbank Cup their only chance to end their 10-year wait for a trophy, although they have a tricky semi-final match between either Mamelodi Sundowns or Sekhukhune United.
However, Inacio, who joined Chiefs at the start of this season from Angolan side Petro Atletico says the club is on the right track and he has been taken aback by how huge they are.
“The excitement has just grown, you know, of course we have some problems to fix, some struggles present that I wasn’t aware of when I arrived. But to be honest the excitement has just grown,” Inacio told iDiski Times.
Inacio wowed by massive Amakhosi support

“It’s grown because of the things we can do, not only for us as players, but for the fans – of course, they have a massive impact on our game, our preparation.
“That’s the biggest thing that I realised, it’s more important, not only playing for us – but playing for something bigger than us.
“The fans, Kaizer Chiefs – everywhere we play we have massive support from them. It’s the biggest challenge, to achieve something, to win something with the club, to give them the happiness they really deserve.”
The defender has full faith in the work of coach Nabi, who he feels has improved a number of things already, even if it appears from outside that the team has not improved.
“I’ve said 100 times, you cannot be doing anything new overnight, you have to understand the moment of the team, from where we came to where we are now,” he added.
Have Chiefs really made progress?

“We analyse games every week, analyse the season weekly – we can see we have made progress. We know we have a lot to do also.
“But I think we’re in a good space to do something great in the future. But myself, like the fans, we want it immediately, but sometimes it’s difficult.”
The defender has been among the key men for Nabi, playing 24 of Chiefs’ 27 games this season, and has also shown leadership by wearing the captain’s armband on certain occasions.
Inacio and his Chiefs team-mates will be back in action on Saturday March 29 when the Soweto giants face Golden Arrows in a PSL clash that they must win to end their two-game winless run.
