‘We won 2-0’: Pyramids coach fumes after draw with Pirates

Pyramids coach Krunoslav Jurcic was visibly upset after his side drew 0-0 with Orlando Pirates in the CAF Champions League semifinal first leg.

The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) played a significant role in the match, denying Pyramids FC the lead on two separate occasions.

On the stroke of halftime, Pyramids thought they had opened the scoring through Fiston Mayele's superb volley, but a VAR review ruled the goal out for offside.

In the 88th minute, Pyramids found the back of the net again with a deflected effort from Sodiq Ougola, but once more, VAR intervened, disallowing the goal for a handball, much to the frustration of the visiting bench.

Jurcic was proud with the effort from his troops but was disappointed with how the VAR handled some incidents during the match.

PYRAMIDS COACH DISAPPOINTED WITH VAR AFTER PIRATES DRAW

“I can say that I’m very proud, we played an excellent match, we scored to two goals,” he said on SABC2 as quoted by iDiski Times.

“For me, I won the match today 2-0. I like Africa but not in this way…

“I will repeat I’m very proud how my players played today, how many chances we created. But I’m a little bit frustrated, it’s very difficult to speak now.

“Football is like this. For me as a coach it’s important that my team created the chances. Sometimes we score, sometimes we don’t score. Generally I’m very satisfied.”
