What made Cardoso ‘unhappy’ despite win over AmaZulu FC

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has revealed why he was unhappy despite collecting a victory over AmaZulu FC.

Masandawana downed Usuthu 1-0 in the Betway Premiership on Saturday afternoon at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Despite a late 1-0 victory over KwaZulu-Natal, Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso was dissatisfied with his team's ball circulation.

Sundowns were reduced to ten men in the second half after custodian Ronwen Williams received a red card for handling the ball beyond the penalty area.

However, they persisted and scored the winning goal in stoppage time. Teboho Mokoena hit a superbly executed free kick, which Iqraam Rayners headed in.

This is Cardoso's third victory in a row against since taking over for Manqoba Mngqithi, having previously beaten Raja Casablanca and Stellenbosch FC.

CARDOSO ON WHY HE WAS UNSATISFIED DESPITE WINNING

“It was a tough match,” Cardoso acknowledged after the game. “I was not happy with the rhythm we had in the first half. Our ball circulation was too slow.”

“We needed to improve our tempo and that’s why we made three substitutions at halftime to inject more energy into the game.

“We created several scoring opportunities throughout the match. I knew we had players capable of making a significant impact.

“The introduction of Letlhaku Kutlwano, Peter Shalulile, and Thapelo Morena certainly added a spark to our performance. It was a high-intensity game, and we ultimately prevailed in the final moments.”
