What Stellies coach said about Adams’ links to Sundowns

Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker has remained coy about reports linking midfielder Jayden Adams to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Bafana Bafana star has long been admired by the Brazilians, and recent reports suggest an agreement has been reached between the two clubs for his transfer.

Speaking to the media after his side's match against Stade de Malien, Barker declined to confirm or deny speculation that Adams was playing his final game for Stellenbosch FC.

WHAT BARKER SAID ABOUT ADAMS’ POTENTIAL MOVE TO DOWNS

“I’m not going to confirm nor deny your question [whether it was Adams’ last game for Stellies]. I can’t confirm anything and I’m also not going to deny it,” said Barker as quoted by FARPost.

He revealed that the club is actively pursuing new signings to fill the void left by the departure of some of their most valuable players.

“We’re a club that plans well, we’re a club that understands the business of football, we understand there are times where your best assets are not always easy to hold on to,” Barker said.

“Therefore it makes us extra committed and extra focused on ensuring we’re finding the talent there is to bring in, to continue to make the club competitive.

“If you look at the January window, the last three windows, I think we’ve done the best, we’ve been good. I don’t see why this window will be any different.”
