Bongani Zungu announced his shock exit from the Premier Soccer League champions Mamelodi Sundowns a couple of days ago.
The 31-year-old has been linked to Kaizer Chiefs who are in the process of shaping their squad ahead of the new season. Neither Zungu nor Amakhosi have commented on the same, but it will not be surprising to see the Glamour Boys trying to woo him.
Ex-Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Benedict Vilakazi is convinced Zungu will upgrade the Chiefs' midfield if he gets a chance.
‘Chiefs don't have a thinker but Zungu is one'
‘Tso' was astonished by Zungu's decision to quit the Brazilians and is still wondering what could have led to it.
He argues no team could have convinced him to ditch Masandawana, but explained why Chiefs should consider breaking the bank for his services.
“I got disturbed a little by what pushed him to that point or maybe he’s going to go to the Arabs in Saudi Arabia,” he told iDiski Times.
“That is what came to my mind because I don’t think there’s really any team in South Africa that can convince him to leave Sundowns.
“Zungu, for me, if he can go to Chiefs, it will remind me of the likes of Donald ‘Ace’ Khuse in that midfield, Patrick Mbuthu, Thabo Mooki, you know ball players.

“If you look at the midfielders that Chiefs have now, they don’t have a ball player. They don’t have a thinker,” he continued.
“Zungu is a thinker, he’s good at marshaling the midfield, he’s not a hard tackler but he’s very smart to anticipate a move.”
What is happening at Chiefs?
Apart from setting up a new technical team that will be led by Nasreddine Nabi, Amakhosi are releasing fringe players.
Sifiso Hlanti, Njabulo Ngcobo, Siyethemba Sithebe, Edmilson Dove, Itumeleng Khune, George Matlou, and Keagan Dolly might be released after their contracts expire on June 30.
It will be interesting to see who will be signed as their replacement; Lebogang Mothiba is another player who has been linked with a move to Chiefs.
