Zwane reveals how Chiefs’ incidents impacted his kids

Published on by

Newly appointed AmaZulu co-coach Arthur Zwane has revealed his kids found it hard to cope with changes at Kaizer Chiefs.

Zwane failed to deliver when he was handed the mantle to steer Amakhosi to glory in the 2022/23 season. During his tenure, he managed 21 wins, 10 draws, and 15 losses in the 46 matches across all competitions.

“10111” was then reduced to an assistant coach role when Molefi Ntseki was appointed as the Glamour Boys' head coach. When Ntseki was fired after 13 games, Mangethe was redeployed to the youth team.

I needed a break… it affected my kids – Zwane

“Obviously, after I was redeployed, I think I needed a break, but I was obviously working with the young ones leading all the divisions there trying to align things,” Mangethe told the media.

“I think that kind of revived my energy which helped me big time. About what people are saying in football that’s part of the game I don’t take it personally, I understand it comes as a package everyone has a different opinion, and I respect that, and you must know people invest their emotions as well in the game.

“It is not because they disrespect you or they hate you. They will say whatever they want to say, as I said it comes as a package. The only people that get affected more, but if you don’t try to make them aware are your kids so it affected my kids, not me because I’ve been in the game for many years.

“I had to make them aware of the situation and also understand that this is where your father is, and they will have to understand. It is either some of the things you stay away from them, or you just support because you love the game, when your father wins you also celebrate so it comes with these with the results not forthcoming.”

What is expected from Zwane

Zwane and his co-coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi have been given the mandate to help AmaZulu bounce back to winning ways.

Under former coach Pablo Franco Martin, Usuthu lost all their last three Premier Soccer League matches against Polokwane City, Kaizer Chiefs, and Marumo Gallants respectively.

On Friday, the duo starts its reign with a Carling Knockout Round of 16 fixture against the defending champions Stellenbosch before playing Orlando Pirates in the Premier Soccer League assignment.
